Step back tens of thousands of years at the La Brea Tar Pits, a site still bubbling with natural gases and tar where over 1 million fossils have been discovered. Explore the tar pits and enjoy included admission to the La Brea Tar Pits Museum where you'll see excavated fossils and watch paleontologists at work on Ice Age relics right before your eyes!  Get up close to actual fossils, from saber-toothed cats to mammoths and mastodons to giant ground sloths and more. Experience hands-on displays and interpretive experiences throughout the Museum, including the legendary Tar Pull. Watch science happen in real time in the Fossil Lab inside the Museum, and outdoors at still-active excavation sites across the park.

La Brea Tar Pits is a uniquely L.A. experience blending science, surprise, and discovery. For nearly a century, this site in the heart of Los Angeles has fascinated global visitors as the world’s only active Ice Age fossil sites where discoveries are still made daily. Most of these finds are cared for inside the Museum, but nearly 50 years after the museum opened, they're running out of room!

Beginning July 7, the Museum at La Brea Tar Pits will close its doors for a two-year renovation project that will increase the spaces to house its over two million specimens.

14-Day Cancellation Deadline

• If you purchased the optional Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP) prior to the deadline, you can cancel your booking for any reason up until 1 hour prior to tour departure and you'll receive a full refund of the tour fare, less the cost of the CPP.

• If you declined the CPP, you may cancel your reservation fourteen (14) or more days prior to the departure date to receive a refund less a $15 per person cancellation fee. Alternatively, when you cancel your booking fourteen (14) or more days prior to the departure date, you can avoid the cancellation fee by transferring the funds to another tour or a non-refundable voucher, which can be applied to any future excursion booked within one year of the original tour date. Bookings canceled within 14 days of the departure date are nonrefundable and nontransferable for any reason. Name changes on daytrips are permitted at no additional cost if they do not require pre-clearance, such as with tours visiting government facilities.
