Wander Idyllwild's Creative Escape

Nestled among the majestic pines of the San Jacinto Mountains, the charming mile-high town of Idyllwild has rightfully earned its place among the 100 Best Small Art Towns in America. Each autumn, this alpine haven transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity and culture as art lovers and wine enthusiasts gather for the beloved annual Art Walk & Wine Tasting event. Join us for a delightful day in this picturesque mountain community during the annual celebration, where you’ll wander through rustic streets dotted with locally-owned art galleries and boutiques, all set to the uplifting backdrop of live music. As you explore, you’ll feel the crisp, invigorating mountain air adding to the magic of the day.

Upon arrival, you'll be personally greeted by Mayor Max, Idyllwild’s beloved Golden Retriever and official town ambassador. With his patriotic necktie and gentle demeanor, Mayor Max has become a cherished symbol of small-town kindness and charm. He’ll be waiting for our coach to arrive, ready to welcome you with tail wags, smiles, and a treasurable photo opportunity. After meeting the Mayor, you'll have leisurely time to explore and have lunch on your own at one of Idyllwild’s inviting local eateries, each offering a taste of the town’s unique flavor and friendly spirit.

For those looking to elevate the experience, you can pre-purchase a commemorative wine glass at a discounted rate of $35. This glass not only makes a wonderful keepsake, but also grants you access to wine tastings at participating galleries throughout the village, turning your art walk into a flavorful journey through California's boutique wineries. Don’t miss this chance to be part of one of the most anticipated and artfully inspired events of the season. Come celebrate creativity, community, and autumn in the mountains with us!

Activity Level: High

This tour visits an elevation of up to 5000 feet and includes a leisurely yet extended amount of walking and may present challenges for guests with limited mobility. The Idyllwild Art Walk takes place throughout the town, with galleries and tasting locations spread out along uneven sidewalks, slight inclines, and a variety of natural surfaces. While the pace is relaxed, paved pathways can be limited, and seating options may vary throughout the day. This may make accessibility difficult for those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. We want all of our guests to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience and kindly advise that this tour may not be ideally suited for individuals with mobility concerns.
