Baja by the Sea: Lobster, Shopping & Ocean Views

Venture along the beautiful Baja California coastline for a day filled with ocean views, colorful shopping, and authentic Mexican flavors. Begin at the legendary Rosarito Beach Hotel, once a favorite retreat for Hollywood celebrities. Browse the lively mercado for handcrafted souvenirs, or relax on the oceanfront patio while taking in the coastal scenery.

Travel to the charming seaside village of Puerto Nuevo, internationally known as the "Lobster Capital of Baja." Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome margarita before savoring a traditional Puerto Nuevo-style lobster lunch at Villa Ortega's Restaurant, perched atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific. Your feast includes whole lobster, tortilla soup, Spanish rice, refried beans, and fresh tortillas, all served with spectacular ocean views. A delicious vegan entrée is also available for those who prefer a plant-based meal.

This memorable getaway combines Baja's rich culture, scenic coastline, vibrant shopping, and world-famous cuisine into one unforgettable day.

Note: A valid passport is required, and all guests must be 21 years of age or older.

Know Before You Go

  • U.S. citizens must present a valid Passport or Passport Card when entering Mexico and returning to the United States. Non-U.S. citizens must carry a valid passport with the appropriate U.S. immigration documentation (such as an I-94, if applicable). Trusted Traveler cards, including SENTRI, Global Entry, NEXUS, and FAST, are not accepted in place of a passport or Passport Card when entering into Mexico. However, you may bring your Trusted Traveler card in addition to your passport to help expedite your return to the United States.

  • This tour is restricted to persons 21 years of age or older.

  • This tour involves considerable walking on uneven surfaces, inclines, and steps.

  • After crossing the border back into the U.S. there is a three-block walk on a moderate incline to the location where you'll reboard the coach.

  • When crossing back into the U.S. you must remove ALL PERSONAL ITEMS from the coach and carry them through the checkpoint, including hats, sweaters, purchases, etc. Items left on the coach may be confiscated by border officials and forfeited.

  • U.S. Dollars are widely accepted and even preferred in this region of Mexico. It is not necessary to exchange your currency to Mexican Pesos. When making a purchase, you should always ask if the vendor can return your change in U.S. Dollars in order to avoid confusion and prevent having to pay exchange fees to convert back to U.S. currency later.

  • For your convenience, we recommend carrying small bills, no larger than $20, for cash purchases throughout the day.

  • ATMs are available in some areas but will dispense money in Mexican Pesos and there may be usage fees in addition to your own bank's fees. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted and will provide the best exchange rate. American Express is rarely accepted.

  • Each traveler 21 years of age or older may bring back up to one liter (1,000 ml) of alcohol into the United States. Since a standard bottle of wine contains 750 ml, two travelers may legally bring back up to three bottles.

  • Please note that some items legal to purchase in Mexico are prohibited from being brought into the United States. These include products made from sea turtles, switchblades, butterfly knives, fireworks, and Cuban cigars.

  • All food and agricultural items must be declared when entering the United States. Many fresh foods, including fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, and eggs, are prohibited or restricted and may be confiscated by U.S. Customs.

  • If you declined the CPP, you may cancel your reservation fourteen (14) or more days prior to the departure date to receive a refund less a $15 per person cancellation fee. Alternatively, when you cancel your booking fourteen (14) or more days prior to the departure date, you can avoid the cancellation fee by transferring the funds to another tour or a non-refundable voucher, which can be applied to any future excursion booked within one year of the original tour date. Bookings canceled within 14 days of the departure date are nonrefundable and nontransferable for any reason. Name changes on daytrips are permitted at no additional cost if they do not require pre-clearance, such as with tours visiting government facilities.
